A 3-day workshop organised by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria commenced today in Enugu. The theme of the workshop is "Capacity Building for Entrepreneurship Teachers Under Mind Shift-National School Entrepreneurship Programme (NSEP 2021" and it is aimed at training teachers in Enugu to position them for the task of imparting entreprenuerial skills in our young population in schools. In his address, the head of the Agency, Dikko Umaru Radda, through his representative, stressed that it has become imperative to adopt a new approach to teaching in our schools in order to equip the learners with functioal skills that will enable them fit into the workplace. According to him, the current learning experiences as contained in the schools curricular.
His excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu state ably represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Education Prof. Uche Eze flagging off the NSEP 2021 programme, organized by SMEDAN. In his speech, His Excellency, represented by Professor Uche Eze thanked SMEDAN for the programme which is in agreement with the vision and mission of Enugu state government. He told the participants that Enugu state government, through the Ministry of Education is already working in that direction, noting that the state has vocational and technical colleges in various locations in the state. According to him, our programme in Enugu state has proven to be effective as many graduates of these colleges have acquired functional technical and entrepreneurial skills and are doing well in their chosen disciplines.
Professor Eze urged the trainee teachers to avail themselves of the opportunity to improve their capacities by participating actively in the training.
