The Hon. Commissioner for Education Prof. Uche has granted approval to Enugu State Agency for Control of AIDS (ENSACA) to provide their oversight function in the monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of all HIV/AIDS responses in our schools.
Prof. Eze stated this when the ENSACA program manager with his team paid a courtesy visit to his office. He told them that ENSACA suppose to clear any NGO that is working in collaboration with them and send their list to the ministry of Education.
Furthermore, the commissioner reminded them that as a matter of responsibility, the ministry still encourages activities meant to keep our students sensitized, and also told them that HIV teachings has been infused in our Curriculum. He added that there is HIV unit in the ministry with a focal person that works closely with ENSACA and handles all issues related to HIV/AIDS in all our schools.
In furtherance to this, Prof. Uche Told the ENSACA Team that the ministry will be pleased with a coordinated action and that is why a focal person is there, so that things will become more systematic and orderly.
The program manager of Enugu State Agency for Control of AIDS Mgbor Martin expressed his gratitude for the hospitality meeted on them and he said that ENSACA wants to institutionalize sensitization on HIV/AIDS in primary and secondary Schools in Enugu State. He went further to plead with the ministry to give them access to their schools.
In conclusion, the focal person from the Ministry of Education Sir LAZ UDE thanked the Hon. Commissioner for the audience given to them and promised that the Sensitization of HIV/AIDS in our schools will not dampen.
