MALTINA TEACHER OF THE YEAR 2020-REGIONAL PRIZE PRESENTATION
This years MALTINA TEACHER OF THE YEAR regional prize presentation was held on Friday October 16, 2020 at Nigerian Breweries Limited, Ama, Enugu state.  The programme is part of the Felix Ohiewerei Education Trust Fund established by the Nigerian Breweries Plc in 1994.  The programme, which plays a pivotal role in the development of the education sector, motivation of teachers and reward of teaching excellence was held this year despite the setback precipitated by the Corona virus pandemic and the subsequent closure of academic activities in Nigeria.
Speaking during the event, the head of the Nigerian Breweries, Ama Plant explained that his company has since 2015 used the annual teacher of the year award to recognize the important role of teachers in nation building as well as reward and motivate them towards excellent service. 
In his speech, the Honourable Commissioner for Education Enugu State, Professor Uche Eze commended Maltina for showing leadership in the areas of recognizing the efforts of teachers, teacher-motivation and reward for commitment/teaching excellence.  He was grateful to the teachers for their resilience and commitment to the learners in difficult times, witnessed as a result of COVID-19. 
He congratulated the winners and urged them to continue the good work.  He told them that what the event of the day signified was that commitment to duty and hard work pay. The Hon. Commissioner urged all stakeholders to support the effort of the government in repositioning the education sector so as to ensure a strong human capital base, which is necessary for industrialization and economic development.
The Delta State commissioner for basic education, through his Special Assistant, also thanked the Nigerian Breweries  for their effort in promoting teaching excellence through the annual teacher of the year award.  He called on Maltina to consider introducing elements that shall assist the teacher of tomorrow to be digitally equipped.
One of the award recipient Miss Chinwero Chisom Lilian in her speech thanked Enugu state government for providing the enabling teaching /learning environment and for providing her with the opportunity to serve, which has culminated into winning an award.  Miss Chinwero Chisom, a Biology teacher at Girls Secondary School Akegbe-Ugwu won as Enugu State Champion, Maltina Teacher of the year 2020. She holds B. Sc. Ed (Biology) and was employed into Enugu State teaching service in 2018.
